The district shall
maintain a comprehensive safety program for all employees and students. Safe buildings, grounds, and equipment shall
be maintained in order to prevent accidents or injury to health of students, employees,
and other citizens from fire, natural disasters, mechanical and electrical
malfunctions, and other hazards.
Buildings shall be planned, equipped, and
maintained in accordance with appropriate local, state, and federal safety
regulations.
Buildings shall be provided with alarm
systems, fire extinguishers, and such other devices as required by state and
federal laws and regulations.
The superintendent shall have overall
responsibility for the current comprehensive safety program, including the
emergency plan. All staff shall be
responsible to help maintain a safe and healthful environment. A district safety officer shall be appointed
to monitor all parts of the safety program, implement policies and objectives,
interpret regulations, and provide leadership and guidance to staff. A district safety committee shall be formed
and shall operate in accordance with OR-OSHA rules.
